1939 Australian Post Office Telephone No. 237
1939 Australian Post Office Telephone No. 237
This lovely old telephone commenced it's life as a CB Bell Box, consisting only of the timber box, gongs (bells on top) and a candlestick receiver. As of 1939, the old CB Bell boxes were upgraded in order to add the dial, and a Bakelite handset to compete with the new Bakelite table top telephones that were being released.
These refurbished wooden wall telephones were rolled out through Australian Post Offices.
Traditionally made from Maple, Walnut and Oak, these telephones are as beautiful as they were practical and this telephone would make an exceptional historical addition to your home.
This phone was converted from a 237CBW to a 237AW.
